Riley, I'm praying your love for the church and work for the church will never end. One day we'll be singing in the heavenly choir now that will be worship. Praying for you as God continues to work in you and through you.

Riley, you don't know me...but my husband was one of the youth ministers at HNW you never had...we left before you family came...We were there for 8 glorious years and I know exactly what you meant in the above...felt all those feelings when we left...
God gave us the gift of still being LOVED by HNW and they are still what we consider our HOME CHURCH...however, we are no longer in the middle of things (as you mentioned) but I treasure those years...HNW is a wonderful church...could it be that GOD is there and the people LOVE? Hope that is the reason and it isn't just because the people are NEAT...I think they are...but since I felt that way over 16 years ago when we left and you feel that way now I'm thinking it could be that GOD is there and the people LOVE!
Blessings to you and your family as you continue (all your life I pray) to follow God's guiding!

Riley, you guys are being "so brave", that is a quote from Molly to me when we were selling our home in Lakewood and downsizing. So at times we must be brave. Last Sunday I didn't say anything to your mom just gave a big hug, and she whispered thanks for praying. Please know I am praying for each of you and I also know 'the best is yet to be'. How exciting!!

I'm reading a lot of Flannery O'Connor right now, because I'm writing part of my Thesis on her. Wise Blood, mostly, but also her letters and essays. She's a genius - a crafty old bird.

Other than that, Wallace Stevens poems and John Milton.

I'm reading "Too Small To Ignore" by Dr. Wes Stafford, one of the leading guys of Compassion International. Talks about the worth of children - sooo good so far!

I also recommend "Present Perfect" by Greg Boyd. It's about living in God's presence, so good. Another book that has deeply impacted me lately is "Following the River" by Bob Sorge about leading worship, as well as a book by Loren Cunningham (founder of YWAM) called "Making Jesus Lord: the dynamic power of laying down your rights." WOAH! haha :)

I just finished skimming I Wonder by Marian Bantkes (mostly because it's freaking beautifully designed.) Seriously. Google it.

I'm also about to start maybe reading that Starbucks book you saw at my apartment the other day. But probably not. haha.

I bought a book of poetry by Robert Frost, as well. I hope to dive into that soon.

And of course I'm still reading Common Prayer and The Valley of Vision off and on when I have time.
